it is nice to experience the unique cultural contributions of the various ethnic groups from around the region, as they converge in Sibu for a weeklong celebration of song and dance at the Sibu Town Square.
Besides the local overwhelming response, this festival also attracted tourists mainly from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, as well as other nearby countries.
In the last few years, several foreign cultural bodies from countries like China and Indonesia also performed cultural shows to further promote the festival. There was also participation from the neighbouring state of Sabah.

The 2nd Borneo International Tattoo Convention 2007, organized by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) and the Borneo Headhunters Tattoo, will feature the many advances in tattoos in the region. Sarawak, once famous for its tattooed people, plays hosts to this unique convention. Sibu has been chosen as the venue because of its strategic position for visitors who have plans to visit other parts of the state mainly located by the mighty Rajang river, where those who wish to travel to the upper Rajang to the Baleh Kapit rapids where visitors can see and experience the ibans, their longhouses and as one travels further up the river you get to see where the Kayan, Kenyah and Berawans dwell, or even take the tributaries to Punan and Kejaman territories. And yes, you can get a tattoo from tribal artists, just make sure you don’t lose your head about it.
